The Challenge

Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust (ICET) distributes funding from the Landfill Communities Fund to community projects in specific geographical locations. ICET engaged Acer Marketing Communications to promote its funding priorities, make applying for funding simple and highlight the projects it funds.

The Solution

ICET fund community projects that meet specific objectives in four specific geographic locations. Potential barriers to considering funding streams are created by complex application processes, so we designed a simple application pack. The tone of the copywriting, together with an example application and its availability online, help communicate the approachability of the Trust. Acer also organise the Trust’s annual public meeting and produce an annual report highlighting funding priorities for the Trust and the projects it supports. This event allows applicants for potential projects to meet trustees and build first-hand experience of the approachable, friendly nature of the Trust.

In addition we promote the projects funded by the trust highlighting the community benefits they deliver. This often involves creative story-telling, securing coverage in a range of local media and ensuring share of voice where ICET has supported larger projects with multiple funders.

  • Over 100 applications for funding received a year
  • Promoted 422 projects over 16 years, worth £7.3 million funding
